What's in your Pack
- Grant Prospect Report: at least 20 ranked foundations and grantmaking charities that give in your county and state, with grant sizes, giving history and how to apply, plus matching Grants.gov opportunities. We check each funder's own website where we can read it, and mark any we couldn't as unconfirmed. See a full sample (PDF, 36 pages)
- Statement of Need data brief: your county's poverty, health and other indicators with margins of error, compared with your state and the US, plus a need paragraph you can paste into an application. See a full sample (PDF, 4 pages)
- 90-day deadline & application-window calendar: the deadlines and application windows in the next 90 days for the funders in your report, plus federal close dates from Grants.gov, each linked to its source. Confirmed deadlines are shown first and never padded, and the calendar tells you how many are confirmed; the rest are marked expected or rolling. PDF plus a CSV for your own tracker.
- Three letter-of-inquiry drafts: a one-page LOI draft to each of three funders, built from your program, ask and outcomes and from that funder's own record, with every fact cited. They're drafts, not finished applications: you review, edit, sign and send them. We never send anything to a funder.
- Included: the Don't-Bother List: funders that only give by invitation, or that don't fund your area, so you can skip them. It's a section of the Prospect Report.
Delivered by email as PDFs. Every figure is cited to its IRS filing, funder web page, Grants.gov notice or Census/CDC table. The samples above are complete reports for a fictional Queens, NY food pantry; calendar and letter samples aren't published yet.
What this would cost to hire out
Here's what the market charges for similar work, from public price pages we checked on October 27, 2026. These are the closest comparisons we could find. They aren't identical services, and the hour counts are our estimates.
| In your Pack | What the market charges |
|---|---|
| Grant Prospect Report (20+ ranked funders) | Done-for-you funder research is listed from $195 to $850+ per list, often for 5–10 funders. |
| Statement of Need data brief | No common flat fee. At the $85/hour median consultant rate (Grant Professionals Association, 2024), 2–3 hours of data work is about $170–$255 (our estimate of the hours). |
| 90-day deadline calendar | Usually sold only inside a bigger research package (one "shortlist + 12-month calendar" package starts at $550). We estimate about an hour of consultant time to compile, or about $85 (estimate). |
| Three letter-of-inquiry drafts | A finished LOI from a grant writer is listed at $250–$500 each. Ours are drafts, not finished letters. We estimate each saves about an hour of writing and fact-finding, or about $85 of consultant time, about $255 for three (estimate). |
| Or do the research yourself with a database | Instrumentl $349/month paid monthly, Candid Premium $219/month paid monthly, or GrantStation $699/year at its regular price ($199/year on an offer when we checked). You still do the research and writing. |
Hiring this out at the low end of those ranges adds up to about $705 ($195 + $170 + $85 + $255, partly our estimates) in consultant fees and time. The Funding-Ready Pack is $297. That's a comparison with consultant pricing, not a claim that our software-built Pack equals a consultant's hand-researched work.
Bought separately, the Prospect Report and Need brief are $278. The Pack adds the calendar and 3 LOI drafts.
How it works
- Fill in the order form (about 10–15 minutes). Your mission, the county and state you serve, what you want funding for and your budget range, plus what the letters need: the program, your ask amount, expected outcomes, who signs, and your EIN. You can name up to 3 funders for the letters, or leave that blank and we'll use the top 3 in your report that accept applications.
- Pay once on Stripe's secure checkout. Card payment, no subscription.
- Get your Pack by email within 2 business days. Your Prospect Report, need brief, 90-day calendar and three LOI drafts. Review and edit each letter, confirm each funder's current round on its website, and send.
- On time, or a full refund automatically: your Pack arrives within 2 business days of payment and a complete order form. If it's late, we refund you in full without you having to ask, and you keep everything.
- At least 20 ranked funders, or we fix it or refund you (tell us within 14 days of delivery).
- We sell research and starter drafts, not grant awards.
Business days are Monday–Friday, Eastern Time, excluding US federal holidays, with a 5 PM ET cutoff. You can also cancel for a full refund any time before we deliver. Full terms · Refund policy
It's for you if:
- You're a small US nonprofit with no full-time grants staff, and you need to know who to ask first.
- You want a funder list backed by real giving records, not a generic directory.
- You'd rather edit a drafted letter than start from a blank page.
- You have a county and state you serve, and a program you want funded.
It's not for you if:
- You want someone to write and submit complete applications for you. That's a grant writer's job.
- You need every deadline confirmed for you. We confirm what funders publish and mark the rest, so you still check before you apply.
- You mainly want large federal grants. We include matching Grants.gov notices, but the Pack is built around foundations.
- You don't have a defined service area yet. The ranking depends on it.
When foundations take applications
Many foundations work on a spring calendar. Of the 3,450 foundations in our data that accept applications and list a specific deadline on their latest IRS filing, 1,679, about half, list a date between January and April. If you want to apply in that window, get your research and letters ready first. (Dates come from past filings, so confirm each funder's current round.)
Questions
Will this win us a grant?
No one can honestly promise that, and we don't. Funders decide. The Pack gives you a ranked list of funders with a record of giving in your area, cited need data, a calendar of when to apply, and three letter drafts to review and send. We don't refund because a funder said no, since we sell research and starter drafts, not grant awards.
Is this grant writing?
No. It's grant research plus starter drafts. Each letter-of-inquiry draft is built from what you tell us on the order form (your program, ask, outcomes and contact) and from that funder's own record: what it has given in your area, how it says to apply, and your need data. Every fact is cited. You review, edit, sign and send each letter. We don't write full proposals or submit anything for you.
What if I order on Friday?
Business days are Monday to Friday, Eastern Time, excluding US federal holidays, and the start day counts as day 1. If we have your payment and complete form by 5 PM ET on Friday, your Pack is due by 5 PM ET on Monday. After 5 PM ET on Friday, or any time on the weekend, the clock starts Monday and your Pack is due by 5 PM ET on Tuesday. If we need more information from you, the clock pauses until you reply.
How current are the deadlines in the calendar?
When we build your Pack we read each funder's own website and note the date we checked it, and we check Grants.gov close dates. Confirmed deadlines are listed first, and the calendar says how many there are; we never pad it. Where a site can't be read or doesn't give a date, the line is marked expected, rolling or unconfirmed, often from the funder's latest IRS filing, which can be one to two years old. Confirm each round on the funder's site before you apply.
Which three funders get letter drafts?
You can name up to three by EIN on the order form. If you leave it blank, we use the three highest-ranked funders in your report that accept applications. Some funders want an online form rather than a letter; the draft notes how each funder says to apply.
Why do you need our EIN?
Funders expect it in a letter of inquiry, so each draft includes it. Enter the 9-digit number from your IRS determination letter or Form 990, like 12-3456789.
Where does the data come from?
Public records: 342,397 IRS Form 990-PF filings (4.6 million grants) and 86,316 Form 990 Schedule I filings (1.77 million grants), plus funders' own websites, Grants.gov, the Census Bureau's American Community Survey and CDC PLACES. Before delivery, automated checks re-derive the figures in your Pack from those sources, and every figure is cited.
What are your refund terms?
Late: if your Pack isn't delivered within 2 business days of payment and a complete order form, you get a full refund automatically and keep everything. Under 20 funders: if your Prospect Report has fewer than 20 ranked funders that give in your service area, tell us within 14 days of delivery and we'll fix it or refund you in full. Not as described: if any part, including the starter drafts, isn't what this page describes, tell us within 14 days and we'll fix it or refund you. Before delivery: cancel for a full refund any time before we deliver. Refunds go back to your original card through Stripe within 5 business days of approval.
Can I share the Pack with my board or grant writer?
Yes. You can use it within your organization and share it with your board, staff and grant writers. Consultants who want reports for clients can join the Consultant 5-Pack waitlist.
